Summer is officially here and so is Covid! What does that mean for swimming?

Philly recreation and park pools are officially closed due to the virus. So luckily I thought this may help a few people with what that means for swimming in COVID times. Many state parks have outdoor pools. The most recent park i went to said the face mask must be worn out of the water. The bathrooms were unfortunately closed. It also recommended the usual hand washing and use of hand sanitizer. Private pools are possibly opening but that may be on a schedule that is different than previous seasons. We’re in luck in that chlorine kills COVID. I would still exercise caution in wearing a mask outside of the pool and washing hands more than usual. In a nutshell, have sanitizer on deck to pull out whenever needed. Outdoor swimming wholes maybe open it important to check the DCNR website to see what’s open before you go there. Open water swimming is available you need to check the regulations to make sure you can swim at the scheduled time. I know there are programs that are in place but in order to combat COVID, they are reducing allowed entry by 50 percent. So check-in before you pack your suit! We are so lucky these pools are allowed to be open!
