Swimming beyond the pool!

Some pools are closed and some are open. Open water swimming is a great option to cool down. When I say open water swimming I mean places beyond a pool. So this usually means lakes and or beaches. I recently discovered a free place where you can swim on a beach! I happily swam 2000 yards of swimming at a beach called blue marsh lake. It was great because we were the only people swimming and many of the people were more or less hanging out and just wading in the water, a few steps from the entry. Blue marsh lake also seemed to have areas where you could take water activities such as boating, kayaking, and SUP paddle boarding. I didn’t notice if there was a place to rent these activities but i saw that some of them were brought by others. The great thing about Marsh lake is that it is free. So bring a cooler full of food and snacks and get to swimming. Even though it was during the whole COVID crisis, it felt quite normal. People seemed to maintain social distance beyond the groups of people they came in with.

I have one more lake for you to swim in. it’s called Stafford lake. I participated in a triathlon there a while ago. The lake was beautiful! it was very quiet but check out if there are open water swim held on the regular. You may find e pretty place to reset.
